I bought a little camera to make myself start shooting again — a Sony HDR-CX405.   Took it down to Borough Market to film the market packing up — but the market was already packed up.   This is a tiny glimpse — less than two minutes — of a rainy Sunday afternoon near London Bridge, with bemused visitors vainly looking for what makes the market so famous.

I’ve worked with many good editors, but the point about this film is that I edited it myself, on iMovie 9.09.   A totally absorbing experience.

Had to save the film at a pretty low resolution, so Vimeo would upload it — all my nice grading gorn…

 

12 MAY 2019:   Another adventure in editing in iMovie, this time trying to get to grips with sound editing.   Some frustration — partly the clumsy fat fingers not managing the teeny tiny controls well enough; partly discovering that, even though you can separate audio and video, and move the piece of sound you want into voice-over on another shot, when you get rid of the redundant shot the sound goes too.   There must be a way round this, but it eludes me for the time being.

Nostalgia for dubbing mixers, and admiration for editors who’ve done wonders with fades and levels at the behest of the impatient director, are increasing by the minute…
